Ayurvedic remedies for managing high blood pressure

The heart is central to our body function. Any pressure on it forces more pressure to pump the blood. Cardamom:- A teaspoon of coriander and a pinch of cardamom mixed with one cup of peach juice help to bring down adverse levels of blood pressure.

Punarnava along with other herbs:- Mix Punarnava, hawthorn berry, and Passion Flower and consume it to help manage blood pressure levels. Add the mixture to the hot water, keep it aside for 10 minutes, and drink the herbal tea after lunch or dinner.

Garlic:- When you crush or chop garlic, a compound called allicin is produced. This compound is known to have lower lipids and prevent blood coagulation. Consuming raw garlic once or twice a week can help with hypertension.

Ashwagandha:- Ashwagandha is a powerful herb that can be taken along with Gotu Kola to be an effective formula to bringdown hypertension levels.

Honey:- Add 5 to 10 drops of apple cider vinegar to a teaspoon of honey and consume it early morning. This will help to reduce and regulate blood pressure. But ask your doctor before consuming this drink as it may interfere with your current blood pressure medications.

Trikatu:- For Kapha’s hypertension, a herbal mixture of Trikatu along with black pepper, ginger, and Indian long pepper is effective in the treatment. This concoction can also help with low-density lipoproteins (LDLs), also called bad cholesterol.

So, these were some of the effective foods and herbs that may help manage complications brought by high blood pressure. A fat and oil-free diet is also recommended to the people suffering from BP as this aggravates Vata and Kapha's balance. Drinking an adequate amount of fluid is also going to help but in specific intervals. Include green vegetables in your diet and prefer to cook low salt and less spicy food instead of eating out.

Pranayam is also a remedy to help combat hypertension. Some of the best asanas you can do include Shirshasan, Vajrasana, Bhujangasana, Mayurasan, Anulom-Vilomma, etc. Yoga and meditation play a lead role in stress management, a contributor to hypertension.

In addition to this, making reforms in your lifestyle habits can also help avoid hypertension. Avoid staying awake at night or sleeping immediately after meals, prefer 30 minutes of a walk after you consume a meal, stop alcohol or smoking, find your stress reliever, be physically active, and do exercise. This will help to manage your overall wellness.
